Gall wasp Diplolepsis rosae
Strange moss-like balls on wild Dog Rose (Rosa canina) caused by a small gall wasp Diplolepsis rosae after laying eggs in the leaf buds or stem. The presence of the developing larvae stimulates a proliferation of abnormal growth commonly called Robin’s Pincushions, Bedeguar Galls or Moss Galls.
